Company Formation

What is company formation?

In the United Kingdom, company formation refers to the process of registering a new business as a limited company with Companies House, which is the government agency responsible for registering and regulating companies in the UK.

The process of forming a company in the UK involves several steps, including choosing a company name, selecting a company structure, and preparing and filing the necessary documents with Companies House.

What is a limited company?

A limited company is a type of business structure that is recognized as a legal entity separate from its owners. This means that the company can enter into contracts, incur debts, and hold assets in its own name, rather than in the name of the individual owners.

Limited companies are the most common form of business structure in the United Kingdom, and are often chosen for their limited liability protection, which means that the owners of the company are not personally liable for the company’s debts and obligations.

What is the company formation process?

It can be a little tricky to set up a limited company, but Micahguru formations make it easy. To begin the process of forming your company, simply enter your company name into our name check tool, select a company formation package, add any additional address services you may need, and complete checkout.

How long does it take to form a company?

It takes about 5 minutes to apply for a company on our website, and then typically 24 hours for the company formation process in the United Kingdom.

This is because the process of incorporating a company in the UK is largely automated and can be done online through Companies House, the UK government agency responsible for registering and incorporating companies.

Who can start a UK limited company?

In the United Kingdom, anyone over the age of 16 can start a limited company. To do so, you will need to register the company with Companies House, the government agency responsible for registering and regulating companies in the UK.

Payment Gateways

What is payment gateway?

A payment gateway is a service that allows a merchant to accept credit card and electronic check payments from customers. Payment gateways protect credit card information by encrypting sensitive data, such as credit card numbers, to ensure that information is secure throughout the transaction process. Payment gateways also provide a platform for merchants to process, authorize, and accept or decline transactions in real-time.

Payment gateways are typically used by online merchants to process online transactions, but they can also be used by brick-and-mortar businesses to process in-store transactions. When a customer makes a purchase online or in a store, the payment gateway processes the transaction by verifying the customer’s credit card information and ensuring that the funds are available. If the transaction is approved, the payment gateway will transfer the funds from the customer’s account to the merchant’s account. Payment gateways can also handle the collection and processing of electronic check payments.

What is VAT registration?

Value-Added Tax (VAT) is a tax on the consumption of goods and services in the UK and the European Union (EU). VAT is applied to most goods and services at a rate of 20%, although some goods and services are taxed at a reduced rate of 5% or are exempt from VAT altogether.

In the UK, businesses that make supplies of goods and services above a certain threshold (currently £85,000 per year) are required to register for VAT and charge VAT on their supplies. This is known as VAT registration. If your business is registered for VAT, you will need to charge VAT on your sales and pay the VAT collected to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). You can also claim back any VAT you have paid on your business expenses.

To register for VAT, you will need to complete a VAT registration form and submit it to HMRC. Once your registration is approved, you will receive a VAT registration number, which you will need to include on your invoices and other VAT-related documents.

What is business mailing address?

A business mailing address is an address that is used by a business to receive mail and other communications through the postal service.

It is typically used for business-related correspondence, such as receiving invoices, documents, and other important business mail.

A business mailing address can be the same as the physical address of the business, or it can be a separate address, such as a post office box or a virtual mail service.
